Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before placing your first queen.
What is Reinas?
Reinas is a free daily logic puzzle about placing queens. Each board is split into colored regions, and you place one queen in every row, column and region. It is not the chess puzzle: queens only need to avoid touching.
Do queens attack along diagonals?
Only when they touch. Two queens may not be next to each other, even at a corner, but queens farther apart may share a long diagonal. Every row, column and region holds exactly one queen.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. A new board starts at midnight UTC for each difficulty, and everyone who plays that day gets the same one.
Which difficulties are there?
Four: Easy (5×5), Medium (7×7), Hard (9×9) and Expert (10×10). Larger boards call for harder techniques, from simple eliminations up to testing a queen and ruling it out.
Do I ever need to guess?
No. Every board is checked before it is published: it has exactly one solution and a logical proof. Expert boards can ask you to test one queen in your head and rule it out when it fails, but never more than one step deep.
Is Reinas free, and is my data private?
Yes. Reinas is free, with no account, login or purchase. Your progress, times and streaks stay in your browser on this device, and visits are only counted in aggregate.
