A place for every queen.

Hard Reinas — a 9 × 9 Queens puzzle

A larger board where regions crowd the same rows and columns. Expect to reason about groups of regions together.

Building today's Hard board…

What this level asks

Hard adds groups: when two or three regions fit in exactly that many rows or columns, those lines are theirs, so cross out every other region there.

How to play

  1. Place exactly one queen in every row, every column and every colored region.
  2. Queens cannot touch, not even at a corner. Queens farther apart may share a diagonal.
  3. Use crosses to rule out squares and find a place for every queen.

For example, a queen two squares away along a diagonal is fine, but a queen on the very next diagonal square touches and is not allowed.

Learn the rules

Every board has as many rows, columns and regions as queens. Each needs exactly one.

One queen in every row and every column. One queen in every region. Regions have a letter as well as a colour.
Not allowed: these two queens touch at a corner.
Allowed: these two queens share a long diagonal but do not touch.
Crosses are your own notes. The game never adds them for you.

On Expert, some steps ask you to try one queen in your head and rule it out when it breaks a rule. You never need to guess deeper than that.
